Mud Turbines

Mud Turbines are part of the family of downhole drilling tools that are used in industrial applications. These pieces of drilling equipment are used for large scale projects, most notably in the oil and gas industries when digging wells. As you can imagine, working in this demanding field means that down hole technology is developing all of the time and any new drilling technology leads to improvements in efficiency and safety when drilling wells. It is for this reason that Turbine Dynamics have used their expertise to develop a new product in the downhole drilling portfolio: the worlds first closed loop alternator mud turbine.

Prior to the invention of the closed loop mud turbine, only open loop alternators had been used for drilling wells. Turbine Dynamics is therefore leading the field after developing our own closed loop alternator mud turbine model which is the very first of its kind. This drilling machine has revolutionised the down hole drilling process, as the link between flow rate and output voltage has been broken. This has set a new engineering precedent for a precision actuator for down hole precision, speed and torque control.
